Coach Dalton Speller

Coach Dalton Speller was born in Nashville and grew up across DC, Chicago, and Milwaukee before moving back to the area in 2006. He stepped onto the mat for the first time on May 26th, 2021, drawn to Legion Jiu Jitsu by watching his son Jeffrey begin to put things together. "In order to help him, I'd have to do more than watch," he says.

Dalton earned his blue belt in July 2022 and has competed multiple times, including at IBJJF Master Worlds in 2023. He has even cornered Jeffrey in competition, which he calls one of the best experiences a father can have.

As a coach, Dalton loves seeing a student's eyes light up when something clicks. He also holds that the best proof you understand something is your ability to teach it to someone else, and that conviction drives every class he leads.
